This new mainspring tool makes lots of claims and they all just might be true. As the only mainspring removal tool on the market they claim "stress-free, quick and easy removal without risk of damage and injury." The winding and insertion tool comes with twelve adjustable depth dies which fit with precision most Rolex® calibers, well that's what the maker claims. The winding handles are numbered and double action for both right and left handed winding. A very interesting tool, which was designed to improve the servicing of high grade wrist watches during the removal, cleaning, oiling, winding and inserting mainspring process and I understand it does work. Still others say that mainsprings are cheap in comparison of the cost of servicing these watches and should be replaced each time the watch is serviced. Since modern mainsprings come pre-lubricated and all coiled up the only thing a watchmaker needs to do is to clean and oil the barrel and then press in a new spring.
